Is a registered Will necessary?
Registration is not compulsory for a Will, but it adds a record that can be produced later and is often advised. We explain the options and the cost of each.
Can I write a Will for assets in India while living abroad?
Yes, in general. The Will should be executed in the manner the law requires, with witnesses, and cover your Indian assets clearly. We set out the signing steps for where you live.
What happens without a Will?
Assets pass under the succession law that applies to your religion and family situation, which can leave heirs abroad with long paperwork. A Will lets you decide and keeps the path clear.
Do you charge fixed fees?
Fees depend on the documents, the number of parties and the offices involved. You receive the scope and the fee in writing before work starts. Government fees, stamp duty and courier charges are paid at actuals.
How long will my work take?
It depends on the authority involved and on how complete your documents are. Registrations, certificates and tax applications move at the pace of the office concerned, so we give you realistic stages rather than a promised date, and keep you updated at each stage.
